In Treatment - Paul and Gina Week 8

Posted March 30, 2008

Paul's been asking for it all season long -- talking down to Gina, poo-pooing her chosen methods of analysis, smirking at her comments, rubbing her face in the past. Gina's been more patient than I think I would have been. But after listening to Paul go on nearly the whole episode, she finally lost it. Gina told Paul she's tired of being his punching bag, tired of listening to him try to analyze her life (which he doesn't know a lot about), and tired of fighting him over Laura. She basically ended their sessions, asking him to leave for the first time ever. But not without first telling him to suck it up, go to Laura, find out if love really exists between them, and then seeing where it leads. I think all of North Little Rock could hear me screaming, "Noooooooo!" when Gina gave Paul permission to pursue his crush. I apologize to all my neighbors and fellow residents. And I guess I kind of see her point: Paul needs to stop whining and get off his butt and go do something. Stop talking about it, stop fighting it, stop boring us all with it. Just be a man. Make a decision. None of us have to agree with it. It just matters that it's your decision and you are willing to live with the consequences.
