Lorena Harper, 26, of Little Rock rejoices in the fashions this year. She’s bordering on jubilant while describing all of the things she loves to wear and how they coincide with what is fashionable today: the color yellow, year-round scarves, skinny pants and ballet flats. “Fashion now is all about the ‘I don’t care’ attitude. You find your own place and go with it.” Harper explains that she’s always had that mindset and opted for comfort whenever possible like wearing flats while her stylish sister swore by stilettos. “I’ve never been a fashionista.” Harper has dressed as she dresses today for a while, but now it’s finally in style and she can proudly say “Yellow is my color!”
the look:
The deep gray scarf around Harper’s neck is a recent proud purchase. She was looking for a scarf this color and found it for a bargain. “I wear it with everything, brown or black,” she explains with a big smile. As for jewelry, Harper wears only her wedding ring and her everyday necklace. “It [jewelry] just gets in my way.”
Harper’s bag was yet another bargain buy. The chestnut leather bag with gold accents was originally priced at slightly more than four times the amount she paid for it. “Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you have to search for it.”
The base of Harper’s outfit is a lightweight yellow sweater with skinny dark wash jeans and ballet flats. The silhouette does more talking than the pieces themselves. She doesn’t do anything loud overall, but instead wears simple pieces that fit her well — making her look neat and put together with little effort.
