Emily Wilson, 26, of North Little Rock is off to lunch with co-workers on a sunny day. She describes her style as eclectic and fun. “I don’t walk into a store, look at a mannequin and say I want that whole outfit,” she says. Searching for pieces, especially during sales, and putting them together on her own are part of the fun. Her obvious, active interest in fashion and, not to mention, her hair cause for comparison to a certain Sex and the City protagonist. Wilson doesn’t contend to the likeness. She loves the show, loves fashion but it’s, “Not that I think I’m Carrie Bradshaw.”
The look:
Wilson wears a blouse she found at a second-hand store of the palest, girliest shade of pink. The pearlescent silk is a nice contrast to the thicker, dark material of her pants. Also, tucking blousey tops into fitted high waisted pants or skirts is a surefire way to look delightfully put together. Doing this creates a pretty silhouette that instantly makes you appear to have longer legs and suggests you may know your way around a catwalk.
Definitely a daring choice are Wilson's navy cotton pants with slightly glittery taupe sailor buttons. "My friend, Lucy, said 'Don't buy those, you'll never wear them.' I rock these quite often," says Wilson. She admits that she gets mixed reviews from people she knows when it comes to these pants, but Wilson takes it in stride. "I dress to please myself," she says.
All of Wilson’s accessories seem subtle paired with such a powerful pant, allowing her britches to be the main attraction. Her camel purse with gold studs is apparently Wilson’s, “least favorite purse,” but you would never know it since it looks perfectly placed here. Her necklace is light and girly just like her shirt while her gold filigree earrings are large and out-there but blend in with her blonde curls. Each “extra” blends nicely with the piece it’s near.
