Little Rock's Mallory Roberson was the winner of Sync’s bike giveaway on Saturday, sponsored by Arkansas Cycling and Fitness, at the CARTI Tour de Rock.
Roberson’s name was drawn from a field of nearly 100 entrants who registered that morning to win the Trek 1.2 series road bike, valued at $770.
Eighteen-year-old Roberson, participating for the first time in the Tour de Rock, rode in the 18-mile family fun ride that morning and said she entered the contest because she figured, “I have as much chance as anyone else.” Though having never won anything before, the results were “a shock.”
“I just got my first bike about a month ago, and it's a really sweet mountain bike. But I didn't have a road bike,” she said.
Roberson will take the bike with her to the University of Central Arkansas in the fall.
