Store owner proves chic can be comfortable.
Tuesday, November 4, 2008
LITTLE ROCK Christina McGehee is high-fashion, high-comfort for a day of work at her boutique and coffeeshop in The Heights. The owner of Tallulah with the Boulevard Bread Co.'s coffee shop in her store (her husband, Scott, owns Boulevard) this woman's "day at the office" calls for looking fashionable at all times, and perfecting the tasty cappuccinos and snacks for her customers.
In between giving us the scoop on her fashion, she tended to customers and answered the phone.
Her style is comfortable and cozy, and she said she looks forward to the cooler weather and bundling up in warm sweaters.
the look:
Today, McGehee was helping a customer find the perfect pair of jeans when we asked about her outfit. The light violet-colored dress, straight from the fashion capital of New York City, is a sheer cotton with a satin slip underneath and short sleeves bunched at the side.
The dark brown, leather mid-calf boots are a strong piece - many might not think to try the boots with bare legs and a light colored dress. The Fiorentini & Baker boots add a tough-edge to the feminine colors in the rest of her outfit. The multi-colored floral scarf she dons is from the Epice line in Paris. Scarves have been around, but this season they're making a big statement - whether it's dressing up a casual tee, appearing under a jacket, or adding a finishing touch to a suit or dress. This mother of two said she chose this outfit today because she just got it from the cleaners and she was in a hurry. But we can't tell.
Her gold bangles came from Forever 21, and she also sports a vintage gold ring from Japan. The Ananas Beatrice brown leather bag keeps everything she needs all in one place and matches the intensity of her boots.
