Halloween happenings

Events in the metro range from mild to menacing.

Boo at the Zoo offers Halloween fun for even the littlest goblins. However, the faint of heart may want the skip the zoo's haunted house.

LITTLE ROCK — This Halloween, the metro offers a variety of ways to celebrate. There are hayrides and trick-or-treating options to haunted houses for the less-squeamish. Pumpkin patches are also open so you can find the perfect gourd for your porch. While we tried to include many of this season's Halloween events, we're not perfect and may have missed some.

15th Annual Knights of Columbus Haunted Hayride

Admission: $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under

Big Boo-seum Bash

Admission: Free

Kids can take their candy bags and visit participating museums, which include the Old State House Museum, Museum of Discovery, Clinton Center, Curran Hall, Central High School National Historic Site, MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, Historic Arkansas Museum and EMOBA Museum. There will be free shuttle buses to each location.

Boo at the Zoo

Billed as a "Safe, fun-filled family Halloween festival", Boo at the Zoo has rides, treat stations, a costume contest and lots of other activities.

Costume contest and trick-or-treating at Park Plaza Mall

Oct. 31, 4-6 p.m.

The fun at Park Plaza is for children 12 and under. The contest will be held on the Third Level East, and contest winners will be announced on Nov. 5. After the contest, kids can trick-or-treat at participating merchants. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Halloween Bash 2008

This costume party at Next Level Events is only for adults 21 and up. Ticket includes an open bar, food and music by Typhoid Mary and Mr. Happy.

The staff of the Wonder Place are putting on a party for the little ones with crafts, a costume contest and other family fun.

The party will feature a two-hour live appearance by Radio Disney 99.5 FM, music and games. Admission is free. Pizza and drinks are also free with a pet food donation to Little Rock Animal Village.

Child's admission includes a hayride to the pumpkin patch where they pick their own pumpkin, adults are free on the hayride. There is also a barn yard with farm animals, hay tunnels, swings and slides.
