Colorful in cashmere

Teacher livens up her look while on a date with her husband.

LITTLE ROCK — Carla Smith expresses herself in her colorful, yet demure, outfit on a date with her husband. The 28-year-old teacher just enjoyed dinner at Casa Manana then stopped to relax at Ciao Baci in Hillcrest.

Described by her husband as "eclectic and bohemian," her style is youthful and free-spirited. She was off of work until Monday when she returned to her classroom after a long holiday break.

The multi-colored short-sleeved blouse is an eye-catcher no doubt, but on this January evening she tones it down but warms up with an ivory, cashmere cardigan. Both pieces were purchased locally. Her faded Joe's jeans keep the outfit a bit more on the casual side. She actually borrowed these from a friend. No report on if she plans to return them.

The vintage camel-colored calfskin boots found on eBay struck her fancy because they reminded her of Dolly Parton.

She carries a black patent leather purse that was a Christmas present two years ago from her husband who is a Baumans employee. He had much to add to this fashion interview. Her turquoise scarf she's had for three years came from TJ Maxx and is made of linen. Smith said she wears it all the time and took time to show me the "newest" way to tie it. Smith said she loves scarves and anything with fringe or that adds texture to an outfit. Gold hoop earrings borrowed from her mother, a watch and her wedding ring are the only jewelry she wears.
