About this place

Balancing burgers and bar fare with hearty dinner platters, Big Whiskey's - a first franchise of a Springfield, Mo., establishment - is supremely approachable in menu and price. The most expensive item on the menu, a strip steak, is $16.99, with many substantial selections well under $10. (Well, technically, there is Big W's $300 Burger, a choice of burgers and a bottle of Big Whiskey's own special Jack Daniel's.) Also approachable is the feel of the comfortable pub that is heavy on the wood (from the padded booths and the tables to the paneling) and dark but for the glow of a fafillion flatscreen TVs. Plenty of patrons were present, as were bands like Queen via speakers, but the volume was always tolerable. Servers were friendly and mostly efficient. Parking can still be a bit of an issue during the day, although most of the lunch crowd probably walks from nearby offices. The restaurant's adjoining parking lot is free to customers at night.
