About this place

Taziki's menu merits the label "Greek Lite," given that it offers a limited number of genuinely Greek-rooted dishes, along with such marginally Hellenic items as pimento cheese sandwich, egg salad plate and penne pasta with chicken. Diners familiar with Greek-American restaurant hotbeds like Chicago and Tarpon Springs, Fla., may be disappointed to find no grilled octopus, no taramosalata, no moussaka, no sea bass, no keftedes.
That said, Taziki's is doing what it does very well, reflecting the obvious care taken with fresh ingredients at this family-run place. Former state legislator Jim Keet is hands-on president of the operation, working under a license from the original Taziki's, which has five Alabama locations. Keet's sons Tommy and Jake are on-the-scene partners, with Keet's wife Doody also pitching in.
