Where are you from?
Ashdown. Population 4,615.
Where have you lived?
Galveston, Texas, when I was a kid, back to Ashdown, then to college at Arkadelphia. (Go Red), then in Syracuse, N.Y., for my master’s degree (Go Orange), then to Newark, N.J. (Across the river from NYC and the setting for the hit HBO show The Sopranos), and now I’m here in Little Rock.
Where’d you go to school?
Henderson State University and Syracuse University
Was it easy for you to pick a major?
I wanted to be a radiologist or a youth minister at first, but soon learned that class wasn’t my favorite thing. Then, I sort of fell into journalism after working at a radio station. Been here ever since.
What has been your favorite job?
Being a DJ in Hot Springs. I got free stuff all the time and callers would constantly tell you how cool you were. Granted they were teenage girls, but I was young at the time, so it was fine with me.
Worst job?
McDonald’s. I lasted about a week.
What’s your dream job?
Editor at Entertainment Weekly or Sports Illustrated.
When you were a kid what were your favorite toys?
Playdoh, Hot Wheels, Legos and the lawnmower that popped when you walked.
Would you still like to have those toys today?
Some days. Actually, right now.
What happened to them?
I think I gave them all to my younger brother.
Do you feel like a “grown up”? If not, do you think you ever will?
Definitely not a “grown up” and never will be. Granted, I may have a few gray hairs, but I just consider them highlights.
If you could travel or live anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
My top places I want to go in the next 10 years are Egypt, Amsterdam, Australia/New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. If I had to live one place the rest of my life, I’d spend my days chillin’ on a beach off the coast of Greece.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to everything except opera. My two favorites are rap and country.
Best concert you’ve ever seen?
I’ve been to more than 30 concerts and it was hard to pick a favorite, so I’ll go with my favorite band: Aerosmith.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
This one time I drank a little too much and decided to jump over one of my friends. I was able to jump over him, but forgot I had to land. Consequently, I tore my ACL. I just tell people I tore it playing football.
Anything that’s interesting about you?
I was the big winner on Wheel of Fortune a couple of years ago. That’s interesting, I guess.
Do you have any pets?
Nope, but I’m hoping to get an English bulldog soon. I’m gonna name him Jeter.
Any hobbies?
I’m a TV freak. I watch too much. From Sportscenter to American Idol, I can’t get enough. I usually go out bar-hopping most nights. I’m a huge Yankees fan and I like the St. Louis Rams and, of course, the Razorbacks.
Any food or cooking-related disaster stories?
Nah, but one time, my roommate and I put Dawn in the dishwasher instead of the normal stuff. We thought it would be okay. As you can imagine, the kitchen was full of bubbles and they slowly made their way to the living room.
Do you have any interesting Sync-related stories?
None that I can discuss on the Internet.
Why did you apply to work on this publication?
It sounded like fun, to be honest. And I was right; it is.
