Where are you from? Where have you lived?
I am originally from Yukon, Okla., but I moved to Fayetteville when I was 7. I have gone to school in Conway for the past four years and now I’m in Little Rock.

Where'd you go to school? Was it easy for you to pick major?
I went to Hendrix College, and picking a major was really easy for me. I graduated with a philosophy degree (art minor). I changed my minor several times, thought about double majoring, but philosophy was always in the mix.

What’s your dream job?
I’ve always wanted to travel the world and take photographs, so any job that involves those two things would be my dream job.

When you were a kid what was your favorite toy?
I had a Fisher Price farm set with a silo, white fencing, cows, people, tractors ... oh, it goes on and on. I suppose that could be considered my favorite toy. That and my record player.

What happened to it?
That set was sold in an evil garage sale that my family had when we were moving from Oklahoma. I think my mom was trying to lighten the load and thought she could lose a few items to the move.

Do you feel like a “grown up”?
Absolutely not... probably because I look like a 12-year-old or maybe it’s the fact that I own and frequently wear a shark shirt.

If you could travel or live anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
Ah geez. I want to go anywhere I haven’t been. I visited Dublin, but I would like to visit the greener parts of Ireland. I haven’t been to France or Germany, so I’d hop on over there... Spain... Brazil. I suppose if I had to live in another country I would choose Italy. I visited several cities when I went there with an art history group from Hendrix. Walking around with a professor who knows everything, I couldn’t help but appreciate everything around me.

What kind of music do you listen to? Best concert you've ever seen?
I suppose a list would be easiest: Sufjan Stevens, Modest Mouse, Rilo Kiley, Jenny Lewis, Regina Spektor, Athlete, Death Cab for Cutie, Coldplay, Rufus Wainwright, Neutral Milk Hotel, Ryan Adams, Postal Service, Al Green, Otis Redding, Chicago... I saw a Rilo Kiley/Coldplay concert in Texas last year... Coldplay’s light show and Chris Martin’s presence was ridiculous.

Do you have any pets?
I have a family dog back in Fayetteville. He is a basset hound named Beau, or Beauseephers, or Seephers if you’re me. If you know me at all you know I’m a bit infatuated with him, but only because he is the most adorable, smelly dog that ever was.

Any hobbies?
Lately, I’ve been lazy but normally my hobbies include: disc golf, running, making collages, trivia, Scrabble, playing any board games and, of course, taking pictures.

Any food or cooking-related disaster stories?
I burn myself about every time I cook... it’s incredible really, the odds of it — burning myself every time. One time, I wanted to warm up a piece of garlic bread so I turned on the oven (to broil, mind you), slathered some butter and garlic on bread and threw it in the oven. Meanwhile, I began eating my leftover lasagna while watching something dumb on TV. I completely forget about the bread until I smelled something burning. I shot out of my seat, ran to the oven, opened the door, and WHOOSH, the bread was in flames. I panicked and called my mom. I eventually threw baking powder on the flaming garlic mess. At least that time it wasn’t me that was burned.

Do you have any interesting Sync-related stories?
Not yet, but soon I suppose... let’s see, what’s happened thus far today. Dan told me about how his dog ate a cute, sweet beaver. These are the things that happen here.

Why did you apply to work on this publication?
I read about how the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette was starting a new publication and there was a photographer position. I was unhappy in my job — I had already put my notice — and being a photographer at a paper would be like having a “real” job, so I applied.
